COURSE

Survivor-Centered and Community-based Response to Gender-based Violence

INFORMATION

This workshop series will provide community stakeholders the ability to support survivors of gender-based violence and create changes in the community discourse of violence and help-seeking behaviors.

The new normal should include responding to gender-based violence with survivor-centered care. Our communities must encourage help-seeking behaviors that can lead to quality care, action, and healing.

To do this, IPG will help people understand how gender-based violence is an extension of uneven and unfair gender power relations, and how it is exacerbated by socio-economic inequality. We will empower ordinary people with the ability to create safe physical, virtual, and emotional spaces for gender-based violence survivors. We will facilitate the creation of a community support plan that leverages the various abilities, interests, and roles that members of the community have, and ensure that community actors are recognized and supported by the relevant local authorities.

This workshop series will provide community stakeholders the ability to support survivors of gender-based violence and create changes in the community discourse of violence and help-seeking behaviors.
